Travel Info and Hotel Reservations

This year's conference will be held in Washington, DC at the Omni Shoreham Hotel. The renowned four-diamond Omni Shoreham Hotel has graciously hosted guests since 1930. Heads of state, diplomats and dignitaries of many countries have made the Omni Shoreham Hotel their temporary home. The hotel features free wireless internet access throughout the hotel (including in your guest room), a fitness center, nearby golf courses and jogging trails. The hotel is located within a block of several restaurants and, if none of these are to your taste, within a block of the metrorail for easy access to everything Washington DC has to offer.

Driving Directions

From Dulles International Airport (28 miles)

Take the Dulles Airport Toll Road to Route 66 East. Proceed East on Route 66. After crossing the Roosevelt Bridge and entering Washington, D.C., exit onto Constitution Avenue. Stay on Constitution then make a left onto 18th Street. Then make a left onto Connecticut Avenue. You will go through an underpass under Dupont Circle. After you pass the Hilton on your right, you will go 1 mile, crossing over the Taft Bridge and Rock Creek Park. At the end of the bridge, make a left onto Calvert Street. The hotel will be on your left.

Alternative transportation methods:
Shuttle Service: Super Shuttle is available at Ground Transportation Level directly to the hotel. Approximately $25 for one passenger and $8 for additional passengers.
Taxi Service: Approximately $55
Sedan Service (reservations required): Approximately $65.

From Reagan National Airport (8 miles)

Follow George Washington Parkway Northbound to Washington, D.C. Continue past the Pentagon to the Memorial Bridge. While on the Bridge, merge into right lane and exit at Independence Drive. Follow Independence Drive back under the bridge along the Potomac River (this becomes Rock Parkway). Merge into left lane. Road splits after passing under Bridge, merge left. Road splits again, continue to merge left. First traffic light is Calvert Street. Turn left onto Calvert Street. The hotel is located on the left.

Alternative transportation methods:
Metro: Take the Yellow Line in the direction of Mount Vernon Square to Gallery Place/Chinatown. Change to the Red Line in the direction of Shady Grove. Take Red Line to Woodley Park/Zoo/Adams Morgan stop. The hotel is located one block from the metro. Once you have exited the Metro via the escalators, go to the right and down the stairs. Go to the left and walk to Calvert St (1 block). Cross the street and take a right. The hotel will be on your left hand side. Approximately $1.35 - $2.10 per person.
Taxi: Approximately $20
Shuttle Service: Approximately $12 for one passenger; $8 for additional passengers
Sedan Service (reservations required): Approximately $39

Although the Omni Shoreham has compiled this list for the convenience of conference attendees, it is not intended to be a list of childcare providers endorsed or recommenced by the hotel. Accordingly, the hotel makes no representations concerning the qualifications of the childcare provider, or whether or not the provider is licensed, bonded or insured.

Neither the hotel, nor the Cognitive Science Society and organizers of CogSci08 assume, and expressly disclaim, any liability for the childcare provider or any acts or omissions of the childcare provided since this service is rendered by an independent childcare provider.

Each guest should his or her own arrangements with the childcare provider of choice. The hotel and its employees, as a courtesy, may make the telephone call to the provider selected by the guest. Should the provider be unavailable, it will be the responsibility of the guest to choose another provider. Neither the hotel, nor its employees, can make this decision on the guest's behalf. We trust that guests will understand that the selection of a caregiver is best made solely by the guest.
